This course provides a broad-based knowledge of how to conduct basic alteration using various techniques. You will be able to apply the proper methods of alteration to the various types of a garment. This course is highly recommended for people who are involved in the fashion retail service sector and designers to cater to the demands of customers who require clothing alterations or modifications to fit their body. Participants will be involved in the active learning of garment fit evaluation and pinning for alteration through simulated samples and ready-made clothing.

Items Required For Class

You will need 3 pieces of garments for practice and assessment: 2 woven garments + 1 knit garment OR 1 woven garment + 2 knit garments

NOTE:
Woven - Non-Stretchy material (Pants, dress or skirts)
Knit - Stretchy material (T-shirts)

You will need a laptop OR computer OR tablet*, whichever you prefer, for viewing your E-books and E-Learning.
*Devices need to have a working camera and a microphone.

  • Your TaF.tc Sewing Tool Kit - Drafting and sewing tools will be provided in class. *Do take note that the learning tools are for class usage. Kindly return them after class ends. Should you feel that you would like to own this set of tools, you can purchase the kit at SMH Crafts.

    Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

    We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
