PRIVATE EDUCATION ACT

In December 2009, the new Private Education Act is legislated and a Council for Private Education (CPE) was set up to regulate the private education industry in Singapore. All Private Education Institutions (PEIs) are required to comply with the regulations under the Act in order to continue operations.

PEI-Student Contract

The Committee for Private Education (CPE) was appointed by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Board in October 2016 to carry out its functions and powers relating to private education under the Private Education Act. The CPE is supported by a  team of dedicated staff from SSG to regulate the sector, provide student services, consumer education, and facilitate capability development efforts to uplift standards in the local private education industry.

Fee Protection Scheme

The Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) serves to protect students’ fees in the event that a PEI is unable to continue operating due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure. The FPS also protects if the PEI fails to pay penalties or return fees to the students arising from judgments made against it by the Singapore courts.

TaF.tc has appointed Lonpac Insurance Bhd as our FPS insurance provider. Click here for a copy of the master certificate. More details about FPS is available at https://ssg.gov.sg/cpe/pei.html
