Leather brings a touch of luxury and prestige to footwear. As a natural material, each hide comes with its unique characteristics. Learn how to appreciate leather and its qualities; its anatomy, sources, grades and the tanning process from raw hide to a finished material. Funding Period: 1st March 2021 to end Feb 2024

Objectives
  • Identify and analyze different materials and leather types.
  • Compare the differences between genuine and synthetic leather.
  • Apply the various footwear materials used for the upper, bottom, and lining.
  • Identify the various types of leather and their different characteristics and performance.
  • Determine the material suitability for different types of shoes and different footwear manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct a risk analysis of selected leather used for selected footwear and provide recommendations for alternatives.

Admissions

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

Aged 16 years and above

 and 2

GCE ‘O’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR WSQ Advanced Certificate OR WSQ ES WPLN Level 5 and above

 and 3

ALL Students are required to have basic knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office

Graduation

To graduate, you must fulfil the following requirements

1

75% attendance rate of total training hours per module

 and 2

Be found competent during written, practical and oral assessments

International Students

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

1

Aged 16 years and above

 and 2

High School Diploma equivalent to GCE ‘O’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR Qualifications from professional institutes may be considered on a case-by-case basic OR Pass TaF.tc Entrance Tes

 and 3

English Language Requirement – Possess a minimum credit in English at GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent OR IELTS score 4.5 or TOEFL score 75

ALL Students are required to have basic knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office

Graduation

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

75% attendance rate of total training hours per module. Student Pass Holders – a minimum of 90% attendance per month will be required

We do not offer any make-up or replacement classes.

Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
