What is the Place and Train Digital Marketing Programme?

The fashion industry is rapidly changing with e-commerce, digital marketing and artificial intelligence evolving the way we work in the midst of global economic slowdown. The Place and Train programme aims to help you acquire the skills needed by the industry and help companies acquire new talent while riding through this difficult phase.

Participating companies in this programme are SMEs registered in Singapore, and the programme will give you the opportunity to be a part of many facets of the fashion industry – be it making, selling, or providing services. The wide range of possibilities will provide more opportunities for you to apply the skills you learn as part of the programme.

This 24-month programme includes 12 months of training in a range of WSQ accredited courses at both the Textile and Fashion Industry Training Centre ( and LITHAN, and On-the-Job Training (OJT) in the participating company. This is followed by a minimum service period of 12 months where you will apply your skills by working within the industry.

As a student, the aim of the programme is to provide you with skills that increase your relevance and value in a rapidly changing industry, and this is done through upskilling. Applying for this programme also opens up new career opportunities for you in the fashion industry.

For the first 12 months, you will gain:

  • Upskilling through training in WSQ courses*
  • On-The-Job training in participating company
  • One mentorship session per month for you throughout the programme

For the next 12 months, you will be required to fulfil:

  • A 12-month Minimum Service Period (MSP) in the fashion industry. This MSP commences after completing the initial 12-month programme.

The WSQ courses offered at include:

  1. WSQ Diploma in Fashion Technology (Apparel Design and Product Development)
  2. WSQ Diploma in Fashion Technology (Merchandising and Marketing)
  3. WSQ Diploma in Fashion Technology (Footwear Design and Product Development)
  4. A combination of any 13 WSQ modules from the 3 WSQ Diploma tracks and any other diploma level courses

You will also be required to take a course in NICF Basic Digital Marketing at LITHAN.

Note: All course fees and miscellaneous fees will be paid by the participating company.

  • Must be a Singapore Citizen or a Singapore Permanent Resident
  • Can be employed or unemployed
  • Must have a Minimum “O” level with 3 credits in English and Mathematics or WPLN Level 5
  • Must not own a registered business

Important note: If you are employed, there needs to be an element of conversion (i.e. your job scope must change) between your previous job and the new job in order to qualify for the programme.
