Overview
Participants will be able to apply the proper methods of alteration to various garment types. This course is highly recommended for people who are involved in the fashion retail service sector, and designers catering to the demands of customers who require clothing alterations or modifications to fit their body. Participants will be involved in the active learning of garment fit evaluation and pinning for alteration through simulated samples and ready-made clothing. Learners will advance their knowledge and experience to perform alteration by handling different types of materials, as well as a wide range of garment types and parts. Objectives
  • Identify the various intermediate skills in garment alteration & the appropriate type of machine used to achieve the required finishes as per industry norms.
  • Perform the various extending and expanding alterations techniques on basic woven and knit garments including tops, shirts, skirts, pants and dresses as per industry norms.
  • Determine the types of alteration techniques and seam finishes on various types of materials.
  • Transfer the required alteration with proper markings onto the garment as per industry norms.
  • Alter the garment based on marking using proper sewing and finishing machines as per industry norms.
  • Measure altered garment against the given specification as per industry norms.

Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
