This course will allow you to advance your knowledge on pattern drafting and garment construction. Through hands-on experiences, learn how to draft skirts and pants, and the sewing techniques involved in their construction. Classes mix hands-on activities, demonstrations and lectures to convey learning concepts in a multifaceted approach. Funding Period: 1st March 2021 to end Feb 2024

Objectives
  • Draft basic pattern blocks with given specifications or measurements taken from size specs
  • Develop a variety of patterns for skirts and pants using block manipulation method
  • Label and mark individual pattern pieces with symbols and notches
  • Sew a lined skirt against given specifications or measurements
  • Sew a bottom with curve waistline finishing, pocket and cuff against given specifications or measurements
  • Evaluate sewn product against given specifications or measurements

Admissions

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

Aged 16 years and above

 and 2

Possess at least 3 GCE ‘O’ Level credits with a minimum of C6 including English and Mathematics OR ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above OR WSQ Advanced Certificate in Fashion Technology OR TaF.tc's Advanced Certificate

 and 3

All students must be competent or possess equivalent skills and knowledge for the following competencies: a. Drafting and Sewing: Casual Knits OR Basic Drafting and Sewing.

Graduation

To graduate, you must fulfil the following requirements

75% attendance rate of total training hours per module

 and 2

Be found competent for written, practical and oral assessments

International Students

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

1

Aged 16 years and above

 and 2

High School Diploma equivalent to GCE ‘O’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR Qualifications from professional institutes may be considered on a case-by-case basic OR Pass TaF.tc Entrance Test

 and 3

English Language Requirement: Possess a minimum credit in English at GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent OR IELTS score 4.5 or TOEFL score 75

Graduation

  • Your TaF.tc Sewing Tool Kit - Drafting and sewing tools will be provided in class. *Do take note that the learning tools are for class usage. Kindly return them after class ends. Should you feel that you would like to own this set of tools, you can purchase the kit at SMH Crafts.

    • For your own Sewing Tool Kit - If you have not purchased it before, please refer here for the full list.

    The following items will be provided (Students are free to bring their own):

    • YKK invisible zipper for the skirt and YKK Nylon Normal zipper for pant

    You will need a laptop OR computer OR tablet*, whichever you prefer, for viewing your E-books and E-Learning.
    *Devices need to have a working camera and a microphone.

    FAQs

    We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!

    Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

    We do not offer any make-up or replacement classes.
