Overview
The shoe last embodies both the spirit, and the core principles of the art of shoe-making. Crafting the perfect last not only requires a meticulous attention to detail, a thorough understanding of measurement techniques, and expert design skills. In this module, you’ll learn how to use the right techniques to measure different aspects of a person’s feet, and translate those measurements from paper designs and Adobe Illustrator into a bespoke three-dimensional shoe last. Funding Period: 1st March 2021 to end Feb 2024

Objectives
  • To be able to take essential measurements from a person's foot
  • Learn to use paper patterns and adobe illustrator to design and develop the final last design
  • Learn to use traditional techniques to create the final customised wooden last to fit the measured fit
  • Check and evaluate finished last
  • Make corrections to finished last if required
Key Learning Areas
  • Translate foot measurements to Adobe Illustrator and paper patterns
  • Use Adobe Illustrator to conceive final last design to fit the measure foot (You do not need prior knowledge for Adobe Illustrator)
  • Use techniques to add or remove material on wooden last 
  • Evaluate final shape of the last and make corrections if needed
Certificate Issuance
Upon successful completion of the course, student will be awarded TaF.tc's Certificate of Completion.

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

Aged 16 years and above

 and 2

Priority to Footwear Diploma students and past graduates who took Construct classes with hand-welting technique or Blake Mckay method of construction earlier

 and 3

Possess at least 3 GCE 'O' Level credits with a minimum of C6 including English and Mathematics OR ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5 and above OR WSQ Advanced Certificate in Fashion Technology OR TaF.tc's Advanced Certificate

 and 4

Competent or possess equivalent skills and knowledge for the following competency: a. Bespoke Series: Men's Derby Shoes OR

 and 5

Competent or possess equivalent skills and knowledge for the following competency: b. Bespoke Series: Men's Oxford Shoes

 and 6

All applications are subject to review by the management team.

Graduation

To graduate, you must fulfil the following requirements

75% attendance rate of total training hours per module

 and 2

Be found competent for written, practical and oral assessments

International Students

To enrol, you must fulfil the following requirements

Please be aware that in addition to the course  fee below, students are required to pay an additional $1350 + 7% GST for the shoe materials for this set.

FAQs

Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!

We do not offer any make-up or replacement classes.
