Objectives
  • Perform simple alterations on basic woven and knit garments, including tops, shirts, skirts, pants, and dresses, adhering to industry norms.
  • Determine the necessary fabric adjustments required for alteration after conducting proper pinning on a garment, in accordance with industry standards.
  • Transfer the identified alterations onto the garment with precise markings, following industry best practices.
  • Execute garment alterations using appropriate sewing and finishing machines, conforming to industry norms.
  • Measure the altered garment against given specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Items Required For Class

Before your class begins, we'd like you to make sure that you have the following items so that the class can proceed smoothly.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Fabric/Lining requirements are based on standard medium sizing. Please purchase additional yardage for larger sizes.
  • You will need 3 pieces of garments: 1 woven top, 1 woven bottom, 1 knit t-shirt
  • 1 spool of matching colour for each garment (100m to 250m, 100% polyester).
  • Tape Measures and Pins - Accessories.

Students are required to bring their Stationery too. List of stationery has been stated below.

  1. Pen
  2. Correction tape/fluid
  3. 2B Pencil (and sharpener or extra lead depending on type of pencil used)
  4. Eraser/Rubber
  5. 1-inch paper masking tape
  6. Glue stick
  7. Notebook
  8. Calculator

All students who take TaF.tc's Sewing Courses are required to bring their own Sewing Toolkit and Drafting Paper for class.

Yes! You can use any SkillsFuture Credits you have to pay for course fees.

We do not offer any make-up or replacement classes.

We highly discourage you from missing any classes since the entire program is designed to be hands-on intensive. There is also a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of training hours for Singaporean and PRs, and 90% of training hours for international students. If you do not meet the 75% attendance requirement, you will not be eligible to enjoy subsidies nor to sit for the assessment. Make sure you block off your time during your training with us or find an intake option that will ensure you do not miss any classes. You will only wish that you had more time in the class!
