WSQ Identify Textiles, Production and Quality Specifications for Textile and Fashion Industry

­­This training provides basic knowledge and skills of the various techniques and concepts in Textiles, Apparel Production and Quality Specifications. Textiles covers the understanding of how textiles are constructed from fiber to finished fabric. Apparel production covers understanding and knowledge of how garments are constructed, the various seams and stitches utilization in various components within the garment. Quality specifications covers quality definition, quality inspection, what constitutes a defect, statistical sampling, testing, product safety, seam and stitch problems and solutions.


  • Identify selected types of fabrics by name, fiber, coloration (fiber dyed or yarn dyed or fabric dyed or printed) and finishing according to industrial norms for fabric names
  • Analyze common stitch types and seam types with reference to the seam codes and symbols
  • Measure a garment against a given size specs based on the standard points of measurement
  • Inspect a garment and identify defects
  • Compute number of pieces of garments to inspect based on given Acceptance Quality Level (AQL)

Entry Requirement

Singapore/PR Students:

  • GCE ‘N’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR
  • WSQ ES WPLN Level 4 and above

International Students:

  • High School Diploma equivalent to GCE ‘N’ Level with 3 credits including English and Mathematics OR
  • Qualifications from professional institutes may be considered on a case-by-case basis AND/OR
  • Pass Entrance Test

English Language Requirement –

  • Possess a minimum credit in English at GCE ‘O’ Level or its equivalent OR
  • IELTS score 4.5 or TOEFL score 450

ALL Students are required to have basic knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office

Graduation Requirements

Student must fulfil the following requirements:

  • 75% attendance rate of total training hours per module
  • Assessed and be competent for every module
Student Pass Holders – a minimum of 90% attendance per month will be required.

Certificate Issuance

Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
