Hasina

Creator of the Singapore label HASINA

I’ve always loved fashion and I was determined in pursuing my dream to become a fashion designer. But only armed with a business degree and no formal training in fashion I thought that it was essential to develop my skills and my knowledge of the industry. I enrolled in the Diploma in Fashion Design and Technology at TaF.tc because the programme seemed well rounded and covered a large area, from learning about textiles to trends research, pattern making, branding and production. I thought that the classes were engaging and more importantly directly applicable to the business. It gave me the tools and confidence that i needed to start my label and pursue my fashion journey.

MATTHEW GIDEON

Founder of Deboneire

Matthew Gideon graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic with a Diploma in Multimedia & Infocomm Technology. At 17, the idea of designing his own clothes first came to him. “I had a very clear sense of identity and personal style, but it was hard finding clothes that would allow me to express it.” He then explored his personal interest in fashion, studying Fashion Merchandising and Marketing at TaF.tc while waiting to do National Service due to difficulty finding clothes that fit his slender and tall stature, and thus created the line of stylish clothes specially designed and crafted to suit men of similar build and size.

“Lecturers and industry trainers would tell me I was doing good work and encourage me to take this passion further.” He said. Encouraged by their advice to take his own label, Matthew began gathering ideas for his own label. He seized every chance to make full use of any spare time from National Service to develop those formative ideas. After he was done with his stint in the army, he started travelling around Asia, sourcing for fabrics and manufacturers and the plans for his first collection for Deboneire had taken shape.

Deboneire is a critically acclaimed label of exquisite evening wear for men, created by Matthew to dress men of character and taste from cocktail, to dinner, to the red carpet.
