WSQ Develop Apparel Patterns Through Drafting and Sew Basic Bottoms and Tops with Variation of Collars

­­This course provides solid foundation of pattern development and garment construction of basic skirt and sleeveless top. You will learn to take body measurements, understand the relation of styles and ease allowance, develop patterns and basic sewing techniques to construct the garment. This forms the fundamental for progression enabling you to master the basic techniques of laying fabric, cutting, sewing, edging and finishing.

Objectives

  • How to take body measurements
  • Understand the relation of styles and ease allowance
  • Draft a variety of tops with various types of collars and sleeves
  • Draft a variety of pants and pockets
  • Apply markings with symbols and notches
  • Lay fabrics for cutting
  • Sew fly opening
  • Sew pants with waistline finishing and side pockets
  • Sew long sleeve tops with collar and cuffs

Entry Requirement

  • Possess at least 3 GCE “N” level qualification passes with English, Mathematics and 1 other subject or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 4 and above.
  • Students are required to have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (preferred) especially for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as this will be required during project / group work

Graduation Requirements


Student must fulfil the following requirements:

  • 75% attendance rate of total training hours per module
  • Assessed and be competent for every module
Student Pass Holders – a minimum of 90% attendance per month will be required.


Certificate Issuance

Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
