WSQ Calculate Cost of Material and Apparel for Textile and Fashion Industry

­­Start evaluating the commercial viability of your design/collection. Learn how to take steps towards fulfilling it through effective cost negotiation and a keen understanding of your costs based on design sketches/samples.

Objectives

  • Identify the various factors affecting fabric cost marker utilization for selected styles
  • Compute estimated fabric consumption based on given specs and sketch without the use of marker
  • Identify other components that affect apparel costs
  • Estimate other additional process costs such as embroidery, panel printing and wet processing costs
  • Analyse and propose alternatives to reduce apparel costs
  • Standard Minute Value (SMV) costing and Cut-make (CM) costing
  • Compute the final apparel costs

Entry Requirement

Possess at least 3 GCE “O” level qualification passes with English,
Mathematics and 1 other subject or ES WSQ Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) level 5 and above.

Students need prior knowledge or experience of the following competency:

WSQ Identify and Analyse Textiles and Processes
WSQ Analyse Garment Construction
WSQ Interpret Pattern Draft and Sewing Sequence of Apparel


Graduation Requirements


Student must fulfil the following requirements:

  • 75% attendance rate of total training hours per module
  • Assessed and be competent for every module
Student Pass Holders – a minimum of 90% attendance per month will be required.


Certificate Issuance

Upon succcessful completion of the course, trainee will be awarded the WSQ Statement of Attainment (SOA). WSQ Certification is nationally endorsed and recognised by industry partners.
