Course Overview
This course provides knowledge and skills to supervise workplace safety and health practices at supervisor level in their workplaces. Learners will acquire competencies in planning workplace safety and health activities, implementing safe work practices and maintaining workplace risk control measures. This unit is delivered through lectures, simulations and hands-on activities. Participant will be engaged in many active discussions. |
Objectives -:
Aim of this subject are as follows -
- Identify and communicate workplace safety and health requirements to workers in accordance with the organisational safety management system
- Organise workplace safety and health training programmes to meet the organisational safety management system requirements
- Apply appropriate means to communicate to workers on workplace safety policy
- Promote safe work culture to workers in alignment with workplace safety policy
- Provide suitable and adequate personal protective equipment for the work in compliance with Workplace Safety and Health Act
- Plan regular safety inspection to check for safety compliance, abnormality in safety signs and instructions, and unsafe work conditions at the workplace in accordance with organisational procedures
- Train workers to follow safe work procedures when performing work activities
- Train workers on emergency and response procedures at the workplace in accordance with organisational procedures
- Conduct regular inspection to check for abnormality in safety signs and instructions, and unsafe work conditions at the workplace
- Observe safe work procedures are adhered to by workers and take corrective action against any non-compliance in accordance with organisational procedures
- Communicate the change in work practices or procedures to affected workers in accordance with organisational procedures.
- Seek resolutions on safety related issues from relevant parties in accordance with organisational procedures.
- Identify and report workplace hazards associated with each work activity in accordance with organisational procedures
- Communicate to workers the risk control measures implemented at the workplace in accordance with hierarchy of risk control measures
- Monitor risk control measures implemented at workplace are adhered to and take corrective action against any non-compliance in accordance with organisational procedures
- Document risk control measures issues and resolutions at the workplace in accordance with organisational procedures.
