Course Description

This is an introductory course covering almost all aspects of quality in the textiles & apparel industry.  Participants will learn the basic principles of quality and how they impact the policies with regards to quality assurance in our industry.  There will be practical lessons on statistical sampling, in which participants will do a visual garment inspection, learn how to measure garments and complete an inspection report.  Materials testing will also be introduced, where participants will get to do a hands on crocking test, and attempt to give an evaluation rating on tested specimens.  Students will also engage in active discussion of some common quality issues faced by the industry such as snaps failure, and seam puckering. Students will spend a day on learning about what constitutes a good fit, what are some of the probable causes to ill fit, and how patterns could be altered to improve the fit.
