Course Description

This training provides knowledge and skills to interpret and draw production drawings. It covers different garment types, details and specifications. Trainees will learn how to interpret production drawings by developing production drawing skills. This unit is delivered through lecture, demonstration and hands-on activities

 

Objectives


The aims of this subject are:

  • The ability to describe the various silhouettes and components of the garment i.e. The various types of collars/neckline, armholes, sweep, pockets, etc.
  • The ability to draw by hand the style, silhouette, seams, trims and stitch details of a given apparel
  • Ascertain seams and stitches details based on given specifications and measurements in accordance with industry standards.
  • Ascertain trim, accessories and closure details in accordance to industry practices.
  • Determine points of measurement of garment based on given specifications and measurements.
  • Develop garment production drawing based on given specifications and measurements
  • Evaluate Production sketches in accordance with given specifications and measurements.
  • The ability to communicate with the sample maker on the style and details of the design he/she wants to achieve using visuals and written description
