Course Description

This subject equips the student on how to draft patterns based on given size specifications provided by the client.  The underpinning knowledge on the industrial garment construction, various methods of measurements, body silhouettes, styles, fit, industrial stitches, seam allowance and fabric retraction will be taught.   Issues on how to draft patterns taking into consideration factors such as differing seam allowance based on stitch types, as well as fabric retraction based on fabric characteristics.

Who Should Attend

Anyone who wants to work in the apparel manufacturing industry as a paper pattern drafter.  He/she could be currently working as a tailor or seamstress or sample room sewer in the garment factory.   This course also benefits the merchandiser or quality assurance personnel who want a better understanding of how pattern is drafted and the factors of a good quality draft.
