Course Overview

This training provides basic skills in flat pattern drafting and operational sewing processes.
With the basic knowledge in drafting and sewing participants can progress to making
patterns and sewing tops and skirt. It covers sewing machines operations and sewing
techniques for medium weight woven fabric. The drafting involved technical methods in
construction of various kinds of skirts and tops.
This unit is delivered through white board drafting, demonstration, quarter scale drafting,
and hands-on sewing operations.


Objectives -:

Aim of this subject are as follows -

  1. Identify the pattern pieces, sewing operations bulletin and/or processes
    required to construct the garment in accordance with industry standards.
  2. Interpret draft, cut and sew a basic tee and pull-on shorts based on a given size
    specs through basic pattern block using manipulation methods based on
    industrial practices.
  3. Interpret basic garment construction to mass production of pattern development,
    grading and marker production based on industry practice.
  4. Use the sewing machine to sew a garment based on industry
    standards.
  5. Evaluate product outcomes and take corrective actions
