WSQ Diploma in Fashion Technology
( Merchandising)

Description 

  • Professional development opportunities for those who want to enter or have been working in the textile and fashion Industry.
  • It is developed within the WSQ National Competency Standard framework for the Textiles and Fashion Industry
  • It equips new incumbent and in existing textiles and fashion professionals at the executive and managerial level with a comprehensive range of relevant attitude, skills and knowledge in the area of merchandising and marketing.

Entry Requirement

  • Preferably possess GCE "O" levels qualifications or WSQ ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 5 and above.

Course Structure
The WSQ Diploma will be conducted in the form of lectures, discussions, demonstrations, case-studies, practical exercises, role plays and hands-on activities. Participants will complete 14 module as follows –

  2. Garment Construction
  3. Interpret Pattern Draft and Sewing Sequence
  4. Apparel Product Development
  5. Production Drawing
  6. Order Coordination and Production Tracking
  7. Material and Apparel Costing
  8. Global Sourcing
  9. Fashion Retail Merchandise Buying
  10. Social Accountability Compliance
  11. Global Culture Immersion
  12. Quality Management
  13. Supervise Teamwork
  14. Managing Work Improvement

Graduation Requirements
Upon completion of the 14 modules , participants will be awarded the WSQ Diploma in Fashion Technology (Textile & Fashion Merchandising & Marketing) provided  he/she meets the following requirements:

  • 75% attendance rate
  • Assessed to be competent in all 14 modules

WDA Professional Conversion Programme (PCP)

Trainees selected under the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) will receive a monthly training allowance of $1,000 for a period of 5 months.   During these 5 months, trainees will pursue the 3-months diploma programme and fulfil a 2-months internship in a host company.  Trainees for the PCP programme are interviewed and selected by host companies who will groom the trainees for a career with the companies. Global Fashion Graduate Programme (GFGP)

GFGP is a 10-month programme where selected candidates will undergo the following:

  1. 3 months full-time  WSQ Diploma in Fashion Technology with a monthly training allowance of $1,000
  2. 2 months internship in either local or overseas with a monthly training allowance $1,000 
  3. 5 months overseas attachment with $2000 per month allowance with accommodation provided (offer for overseas placement is subject to performance during the 2 months internship)

SRP Absentee Payroll Details
Absentee Payroll Funding is available for company-sponsored participants. Employer may submit their application for absentee payroll funding directly via SRPNet (www.srp.org.sg) at least two day before course commencement.
