Course Description

This course is co-organized by SGS and the Society of Dyers and Colourists to train the attendees in basic colour fastness and stability testing.

The Society of Dyers & Colourists  (SDC) is the only international professional society specializing in colour in UK. It was founded in 1884, and was granted a Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1963. SDC is the only organization to award Chartered Colourist through organized training and board of examination.

On successful completion of the course the participants will be able to carry out the tests covered without supervision and have a full understanding of the tests, equipment (including calibration), grading, measurement and calculation of results, together with appropriate background information.

The need for such a course was recognized when it was realised within the Society that although fastness testing is highly specified, there are so many variables both in the procedures and the assessment of results, that inter-laboratory correlations are far from satisfactory. The principle objective of the course is to improve international standardization of techniques and assessments in colour fastness testing.

Who Should Attend

All interested parties in Textile and Garment Industry.

Objective

To achieve through training courses, improved international standardisation of techniques and assessment of colour fastness testing.
Failure to achieve repeatable, reliable results may lead to:

ф

a producer striving to improve fastness which may not be required

ф Produce production drawing for manufacture

ф

a customer rejecting perfectly acceptable goods

ф

unnecessary arguments between supplier and customer.

Attendees who attain an appropriate level of expertise will be qualified for the Society’s Certificate of Competence in Colour Fastness Testing, which is valid for one year. The course not only covers an introduction to different International Standards for fastness testing and fabric stability, but also some practical training and demonstration of tests.
SGS will share the latest development and experiences in colour solution during the training.
