Course Description

This course provides the individual a solid foundation of pattern development and garment construction of basic skirt and bodices silhouettes.  Participants will learn to take body measurements, understand the relation of styles and ease allowance, develop patterns and construct the garment.  The participants will master the basic techniques of laying fabric, cutting, sewing, edging and finishing.

Who Should Attend

This course is highly recommended to anyone in the apparel industry and anyone aspiring to work in the apparel industry.  The fundamental comprehension of patterns and garment construction is a critical know-how especially for the merchandisers , quality control inspectors in the apparel industry  and sewing operators.

Objective

Participants will learn to

understand the relation of styles and ease allowance

draft basic paper pattern

 

ф

understand markings and notches

 

ф

lay fabric for cutting

 

ф

sew seams, darts, facings, and seam edging

ф

attach zippers and sew button holes

 

ф

hand sew fasteners such as buttons and hook & bar

 

ф

sew skirt  waistline finishing

 

ф

sew complete skirts and blouses with  set-in sleeves

And this will ultimately enhance the individual’s capability in trouble shooting and problem solving in their work place

Subject Outline

Part One

1.Basic drafting skirt, and other variations designs : tight skirt and an A-line skirt .
2.Sewing complete skirt ( total sewing 3 variation skirts).

Part Two

1.Basic drafting fitted bodices with variation necklines.
2.Princess cut blouse & basic set-in sleeves.
3.Sewing complete blouse ( total sewing 2 variation blouses).
